Let’s be completely honest. Where you end up in life may not be entirely up to you, but the way that you view each situation totally is. We’re all bound by an unspoken desire to embrace life uninhabited by chaos. It’s like the saying, ‘save the drama for your mama,’ or ‘drama-free zone.’ Which sounds simple enough, but is virtually impossible to do. After all, we don’t live in a bubble and life is full of setbacks and obstacles. But it is how you handle these things that determines the final product and your happiness. If you ask me, everyone you meet is on a journey of sorts, so learn from them. And what better way to honor your own life’s path than to acknowledge the people who inspire you.
I rarely get philosophical on here, this is a fashion blog after all. So none of that preachy stuff, promise! But a few weeks ago I was invited to Oprah’s The Life You Want breakfast complete with a panel of uber inspirational women. Some of whom you may know. There was Carla Hall the host of the The Chew, Jessi Leon a Grammy nominated singer, and Irma Martinez a stylist to little known stars like Shakira and Sofia Vergara.
So, let’s hear it from the women who are totally kicking butt in life…
Carla Hall:
“Follow your heart”
“Be completely unafraid to take chances”
“Be completely unafraid of what people think about you” (Um, this is a tough one)
“Be true to yourself, that’s where you find your power”
Jessi Leon:
“The bad things are beautiful, too”
“We are a stronger force together”
Irma Martinez:
“The best thing that ever happened to me was realizing that I can do it on my own” (on being laid off from a network job)
“Family is the most important thing”
“Find time for yourself. Sometimes you just have to disconnect with a glass of wine and a bubble bath”
and of course Oprah:
“Life happens for you, it does not happens to you”
“Follow Your Passion. It will lead to your purpose”
Then I got a little makeover from this lovely Covergirl makeup artist. Loved the Covergirl Colorliciuos Lipgloss she used on me. Not sticky and the pigment was a perfect match to my shirt. Don’t mind the frizz it was a miserably rainy morning.
Some more shots from the event and, of course, what I wore.
Carlos Marrero who was generous enough to share his beautiful handbag designs with me.
